The journey of Rocky Patel in building a cigar empire is quite an unconventional one. It all began in the early 1990s in the land of the angels and the city of dreams, Los Angeles. Patel there worked as a product liability lawyer who got introduced to cigars through a friend and became enamoured by them instantly. He then joined the Grand Havana Club – an exclusive and luxurious space for cigar lovers – as a founding member. Despite facing a lot of discouragement from people, Patel continued to persevere and in 1996, after getting a license under Indian Motorcycle, launched Indian Tabac Cigar Co. in Ohio. It became a massive hit in no time.
This was a sign he had understood that the market needed young entrepreneurs who could bring something new to the table, and with his collection of premium cigars with their strikingly conspicuous packaging, Rocky Patel did just that. He built relationships with high-end tobacco brokers to receive the top-quality tobacco and cut down on production quotas to ensure consistent cigar construction.
Patel continued collaborating with other brands to bring more nuance to his brand and in 2006, he launched Rocky Patel Premium Cigars. He enthusiastically strived for perfection in building every inch of the company, and his cigars are made through meticulous labour, turning one-time customers into lifetime cherishers.
Rocky Patel Premium is co-managed by Nish Patel, Rocky’s brother, who deals with sales and client relations. Besides, his close associate Nimish Desai manages the production house based in Bonita Springs. Patel also invested in a cigar and drinking lounge in 2010 in Naples named Burn by Rocky Patel. By 2019, more lounges were opened in the cities of Pittsburgh, Oklahoma City, Indianapolis, and Atlanta. In 2020, the Naples lounge hosted one of the preliminaries for the Cigar Smoking World Championship.
With a unique business model, India-born Rocky Patel marked 25 years in the industry; all the time creating magic in the cigar world.
